Cocoa Holder ~ Mrs. Claus (post #2)

While I was making my Santa cocoa treat holders I thought he needed company so I created a little companion for him. You guessed it the little Mrs.

Again I started with a 4x11 in. piece of white cardstock then scored and folded it at 1 in. and 6-1/4 in.
Next I cut a 3-3/4 x 3/4 in. red strip of paper and attached it to the top flap.
Then I cut and attached a red 3-3/4 x 4-1/2 in. rectangle for the her dress front.
For her dress back I cut and attached a red 3-3/4 x 5 in rectangle.
I thought this lace would make the perfect apron for her.

Next I placed a cocoa packet under the flap and punched two holes through the flap, packet and back.
To finish it off I laced ribbon through the holes and tied a bow in the front both for decoration and to secure the cocoa packet in place.

Here is a picture of the happy couple together.

*Base 4x11 in. scored at 1in. and 6-1/4 in.
*Holder flap deco piece cut at 3-3/4 x 3/4 in.
*Holder front deco piece cut at 3-3/4 x 5 in.
*Holder back deco piece cut at 3-3/4 x 4-1/2 in.
*Lace from WYLA (Joanns)
*Ribbon from Offray. (Michaels)
*Sentiment from the "Happy Days" from Cardz TV.
*Tag from the Tiny Tag Greetings stamp and die set from My Creative Time.
May your day always be filled with love.

Cocoa Holder ~ Santa Suit & 1st Tutorial (post #1)

I've been busy making cocoa treat holders and thought this Santa suit one I created would be a perfect way to post my very first tutorial.

I started with a 4x11 in. piece of white cardstock then scored and folded it at 1 in. and 6-1/4 in.

Next I cut a 3-3/4 x 3/4 in. red strip of paper and attached it to the top flap.

Then I cut and attached a 3-3/4 x 4-1/2 in. rectangle for the big guys suit front.
For his suit back I cut and attached a 3-3/4 x 5 in rectangle.

I cut and attached a 4 x 1 in. black belt to the center of the front.

To form his belt buckle I cut a 1 in. square in gold paper then centered the square cut inside a 1-3/8 in. square punch.

Next I placed a cocoa packet under the flap and punched two holes through the flap, packet and back.

To finish it off I laced ribbon through the holes and tied a bow in the front both for decoration and to secure the cocoa packet in place.

All you need to do now is add the tag and tuck the front flap under the top flap and you have a fun treat to share with someone.

*Base 4x11 in. scored at 1in. and 6-1/4 in.
*Holder flap deco piece cut at 3-3/4 x 3/4 in.
*Holder front deco piece cut at 3-3/4 x 5 in.
*Holder back deco piece cut at 3-3/4 x 4-1/2 in.
*Belt cut at 4 x 1 in.
*Belt buckle cut using a 1 in. EK Success punch and a 1-3/8 Marvy Uchida punch.
*Ribbon from Offray. (Michaels)
*Sentiment from the "Happy Days" from Cardz TV.
*Tag from the Tiny Tag Greetings stamp and die set from My Creative Time.

I'm Thankful For... (#3) A Thanksgiving Wish

I would like to wish all of my wonderful visitors a Happy and safe Thanksgiving
{or happy and safe Thursday if you do not celebrate Thanksgiving}.

This is  a time for us to reflect on things we are thankful for...

First of all I am Thankful for my family.
*I have the most wonderful husband any girl could ask for. He has been there for me through the good and the bad. I would be lost without you. Love you Hon.
*God blessed us with our cherished daughter who has grown into a beautiful woman both inside and out. You have taught me the true meaning of unconditional love. We have a friendship I cherish with all my heart. Whether it be hanging at the zoo or home I am honored you want to spend time with me.
*My first born who God took too soon for you taught me how much I wanted to be a mom and to cherish every minute I have with the ones I love. You were with me for only a short while but I love you deeply.
*My dear sweet Momma who is holding my little one until I get there. Momma I miss your sweet voice and gentle hugs. I have missed calling and sharing my special moments with you but I know you are always there with me with a gentle hand upon my shoulder. I love and miss you. Thank you for all that you taught me.
*My Dad who always made sure we had a roof over our heads. Dad you made it possible for Momma to keep her children when her first husband passed. And thanks to you two of my siblings and I came along soon after to complete our family. Miss you Dad.
*My four brothers and three sisters who were always around as I grew up. {even when I didn't want company. lol}. Growing up in a big family was always an adventure and I carry with me all of those wonderful memories.
*My sibling's families too many to list here now. Love you all.
*My Father-in-law who is the sweetest man. I know I can count on you when I need you. {and he loves and collects my handmade cards. lol}
*My Mother-in-law who accepted me into her family and treated me like a daughter. I miss you.
*My extended Utah family...  You are always in my heart. I miss our visits and hearing your sweet voices. Text messaging and the telephone just aren't the same. Can't wait to see you in December.
*And all my other wonderful family members.. some who are still with us and some who have gone on before us. Love you guys.

Next I am thankful for my sweet and supportive friends.
*I want you all to know I appreciate everything you do and the wonderful people you are. Thanks so much.

I am thankful for a job I love.
*Helping my young students achieve their goals is the most rewarding job in the world. Your smiling faces and hugs brighten each and everyday. Thank you for sharing your enthusiasm with me.

I am thankful for all the bloggie friends.
*You have blessed me with your kind and supportive words. I appreciate all of you and thank you for visiting and leaving comments when you have time.

Finally {since this post has gone on long enough. lol} I am thankful for a warm home and plenty to eat. Not everyone is lucky enough to have that and there are times I forget that. {when I complain this 965 sq. ft. house is too small for instance. lol}

May your day always be filled with love.

Christmas Card ~ Snow Excited (post #2)

We do not get much snow where we live so when we do the kids get all excited {and so do a lot of us adults to be honest}.

Christmas Tag ~ Let It Snow (post #1)

I started my tag creation by grabbing my MCT Stitched Journal Die.
I thought it would make the prefect base for my snowman tag.
My idea was to use the MCT Stitched Circle die to build my snowman but I really wanted the circles to be different sizes so I got out some circle punches and went to work.
Next I used the square button from the MCT Stitched Button Dies, added a brim, trimmed it down a bit a wah la he had a hat.
He needed a few buttons so I cut two heart ones from the MCT Stitched Button Dies set.
I hand cut his scarf, arms and snow for the ground.
Then added a PF face and sprinkling of snowflakes here and there.
I tied it off with a little ribbon and it is ready to add to a gift for someone special.

*Tag base cut using the Stitched Journal Die from My Creative Time.
*Tag front cut using design paper from the My Mind's Eye The Merry Days of Christmas "Holiday Shimmer" paper.
*Snowman circles cut using punches from Ek Success and Creative Memories.

A little posting honesty... {or lack of. lol}

Hey bloggie friends...
I took a little break from card making (and blog posting) to work on projects I put off making for an upcoming bazaar.
Honestly I have been trying to stay away from bloggieland because I seem to get sucked in for hours when I just try to check in for a minute. lol.
I have procrastinated making bazaar projects and am now waaaay behind.
So thank you for forgiving my blog absence while I do a little catch up.

Christmas Card ~ Warm Memories

Each one of these beautiful trees is fussy cut by hand.
I thought leaving a tiny bit of white around their tips would help it look a little like snow.
Next I hand cut the snowy ground and sponged the edges to add a little depth.
I fussy cut the angel and surrounded her with these twinkling stars.
I like to think of sweet angels floating around above beautiful nature on a quiet Christmas night.

Christmas Card ~ Angel Birdie (post #1)

When I first saw this little cutie I just knew I had to have it.
All I needed to do was use a Doodle Pantry image when I entered their challenge last month and they emailed this file to us. Amazing right?
Thanks so much Laurie at Doodle Pantry.
{there is a free file this month also}
It is so cute. I love angels and he has the cutest face.
I colored him up then framed him up with some simple square frames.
I added a few punched out snowflakes and gave them these sweet teeny tiny button centers.
I cut the sentiment frames with my Verve mini bookplate dies then added the sentiment.
I finished off the card by placing a ribbon bow along the bottom.

UPDATE: Blog blinkie code change {and thank you} ->->

Hey guys just a quick note....

I realized my blog blinkie code wasn't taking people to my blog so I did a YouTube search and figured out how to change it so it does.

So.....
If you want to put my blinky on your blog it will now direct people back to here.

I would also like to thank a few people for this sweet blinkie...
->Sarah at Designs by Sarah Bryan for creating this just for me. Didn't she do a wonderful job. And for being a wonderfully generous sponsor.
->Tara at Craftin Desert Divas for the wonderful opportunity to win this beauty in her Halloween blog hop. (And allowing Karon to pay it forward)
->Karon at Karons Krafty Korner for thinking of me when she felt she should share this prize. You see this wonderfully honest lady won this prize originally but didn't feel she should accept it since she hadn't commented on every blog in the hop. She asked Tara if it would be okay to pay it forward to me since I had played along. Of course Tara said yes. Lucky me.

Ladies I am reminded of your sweet kindness each and every time I see my blinkie.
It warms my heart and brings a smile to my face.

Thanks so much
Hugs
D~

Birthday Card ~ Envie Celebration

I started by making this little card with my envelope punch board.
Next I embossed the envelope and added the liner.
I die cut the sentiment banners from dark brown and then again with the gold design paper.
A little trimming of  the gold banners and the brown banners make great frames.
The happy from one stamp set and the birthday from another make a fun card sentiment.
Add little sponging, celebration swirls and a ribbon bow and my card is finished.

*Card base 5.5 x 4.25 in.
*Happy sentiment from the So Happy stamp set from Verve Stamps.
*Birthday sentiment from the Happy Thoughts stamp set from Verve Stamps.
*Banner cuts from the Flag It Die Set from Verve Stamps.

Thank You Card ~ Gracias. Danke. Merci. Thanks.

Today I felt like playing around with the colors from this Flourishes photo inspiration challenge.
You still have time to play along for a chance to win the November stamp release.
Image

This time I used their beautiful With Gratitude stamp set.
I started by stamping the background with the sentiment strip in the set.
It has thank you sentiments in many different languages.
I used one of the pretty floral stamps to fill up this 3 inch circle then colored it with my Copics.
To finish up the card I framed the floral circle with scalloped circles.

*Card base 5.5 x 4.25 in.
*Florals & sentiment from the With Gratitude stamp set from Flourishes.
*Scallops from the Spellbinders Big Scalloped Circles Small die set.

I made him with the same materials as post #1 changing up his colors a bit.
I tucked him behind the frame and attached it to the embossed card front.
Next I die cut the ticket shape and added the sentiment.
To finish it off I ran the tan ribbon across the bottom of the frame, tied a bow in the brown ribbon and attached it on top of the tan one.

Thanksgiving Card ~ A Grateful Turkey (post #1)

Hello everyone.  I hope your weekend was a good one.
Mine was wonderfully creative. I had 4 days off so I worked on projects for the blog and for the bazaar I'm taking part in in less than a month.
EEK! Not sure I'll be ready...

I made this turkey with all MCT die cuts {except the head, face and feet}.
I started with the circle and stamped the sentiment on his tummy.
Next I cut the scalloped circle and added it behind the circle.
I cut a bunch of 'feathers' using the smaller of the teeny tag dies.
He needed a head, feet and facial features so I cut them out by hand.
His little tummy was bare and these MCT button die cuts fit perfectly.
I added some pretty ribbon to the frame and embossed the card front with autumn words.

*Card base 5.5 x 4.25 in.
*Card front embossed using a Cuttlebug autumn word folder. {name unknown)
*Turkey body cut using the Scallop & Stitched Circle Die set from My Creative Time.
*Turkey feathers cut using the Teeny Tag Greetings Stamp Set from My Creative Time.
*Turkey head, feet & facial features cut by hand.

*Hearts cut using the Stitched Button Dies set from My Creative Time.
*Blue frame cut using the Stitched 3x4 Journal Die from My Creative Time.
*Memento Tuxedo Black stamp pad.
*Ribbon from Little Scrap Pieces.

Friendship Card ~ Tea For Two (post #3)

For my 3rd Flourishes release challenge card I created some cups of tea.

Image

The tea cup decorations came from the Flourishes Home For the Holidays stamp set.
I colored the decorations with a couple of Copics then added some glitter glue to the berries.
Next I added sponged highlights to the tea cups to add a little color and definition.
You all know how I love my embossing and this is one of my favs.
The sentiment is just right to give the card friendship feel.

*Card base 5.5 x 4.25 in.
*Leaves & berries from the Home For the Holidays stamp set from Flourishes.
*Sentiment from the Snow Scenes stamp set from Flourishes.
*Background embossed using the Cuttlebug Wicker Weave folder.
*Cups cut at 3 in. from the Cricut Love you a Latte cartridge.
*Copic markers G05 & G19

Thank You Card ~ Snow & Cocoa (post #2)

For my 2nd Flourishes release challenge card I created another cup of cocoa.

This time I used the kids building a snowman image from the Snow Scene set to decorate the mug.
The mug was cut from dark blue card stock this time and I added some embossing to the background.
Add the sentiment and more yummy marshmallows and the card is complete.

*Card base 5.5 x 4.25 in.
*Snow scene & sentiment from the Snow Scenes stamp set from Flourishes.
*Background embossed using the Cuttlebug Swiss Dots folder.
*Mug cut at 5 in. from the Cricut Everyday Pop Up Cards cartridge.
*Marshmallows and other deco cut by hand.
*CTMH Moonstruck stamp pad.

May your day always be filled with love.

Thank You Card ~ A Mug of Cocoa (post #1)

It is time for another release challenge over at Flourishes.
When I saw this photo inspiration I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

I looked for mug cuts in my Cricut collection so I could use some pretty Flourish to decorate them.
First I cut the mug from kraft card stock.
Next I stamped the deer on dark brown and trimmed it to fit the mug.
The mug needed a little something to dress it up so I hand cut this zig zag border using my pinking scissors.
I wanted it to appear the mug was full of yummy hot cocoa so of course it needed some fluffy marshmallows.
I cut the marshmallows by hand and sponged their edges.
The sentiment in the Snow Scenes stamp set is just perfect for this sweet mug of goodness.

*Card base 5.5 x 4.25 in.
*Deer & sentiment from the Snow Scenes stamp set from Flourishes.
*Mug cut at 5 in. from the Cricut Everyday Pop Up Cards cartridge.
*Marshmallows and other deco cut by hand.
*Zig zag cuts using Fiskars pinking scissors
*Stazon Timber Brown stamp pad.

May your day always be filled with love.

Birthday Card ~ Another Negative Cut (post #3)

I wanted to give the negative die cutting technique another try.
First I cut a black 2-1/2 x 5-1/2 in. strip of paper then die cut scalloped circles from it.
Next I stamped then colored flowers directly on the pink paper that was then placed behind the black strip.
I attached them to a green base and finished off my card by stamping on the sentiment.

*Card base 5.5 x 4.25 in.
*Flowers from the That's a Wrap stamp set from Flourishes.
*Happy sentiment from the Inside & Out Happy stamp set from Flourishes.
*Birthday sentiment from the Year Two stamp set from Lawn Fawn.
*Scallop circles cut from the Spellbinders Big Scalloped Circles Small die set.
*Copic markers Go7 & R83.
*Memento Tuxedo Black stamp pad.

May your day always be filled with love.
